Active probing — not crowd-sourcing
Most "is it down?" tools work by counting user complaints. When enough people click "I have a problem", the tool declares an incident. This sounds useful — but it means you're reading a social signal, not a technical measurement. Reports lag reality by 15–30 minutes. They spike for app updates, viral news, and user confusion.
DownCheck doesn't count complaints. When you check a service, we immediately send real network requests from multiple independent vantage points and report what we actually observe on the network.

How it works
Three probes. Three networks. One verdict.
Every check runs three independent probes simultaneously — from completely different infrastructure, using different protocols. If all three agree, we're highly confident. If they disagree, we tell you that too.
Direct HTTP Probe
A real HTTP GET request from our server. We measure the response code, SSL certificate, and response time.

Real probes only
Every result is from a live network request made at the time you asked. We never serve cached or stale data as "current status."
No fake confidence
We cap confidence at 97%, not 100%. No tool checking from a fixed set of locations can be absolutely certain. We say so.
Full transparency
We publish our full methodology — probe types, thresholds, verdict logic, and what we can't detect.
Privacy first
